Smoke Odor Removal
Eliminate smoke odor completely — not just mask it.
Professional Smoke Odor Removal in Hampton Roads
Smoke penetrates drywall, insulation, ductwork, and belongings. Surface cleaning is not enough. We use thermal fogging, ozone treatment, and HEPA air scrubbing to neutralize odor at the molecular level.
Common Causes
- ›Structure fire and smoke damage
- ›Kitchen fire and cooking smoke saturation
- ›Wildfire smoke intrusion
- ›Cigarette and tobacco odor saturation over time
- ›Electrical fire and burning plastic odors
- ›Neighbor fire with shared walls or HVAC

What To Do First
Follow these steps in order. Tap each item when it's done.
What NOT To Do
These are the most common mistakes that worsen damage and complicate your insurance claim.
DO NOT:Don't use air fresheners or candles
Masking smoke odor does not eliminate it. Odor molecules embedded in porous materials continue to off-gas. Only molecular neutralization works.
DO NOT:Don't wipe soot before dry cleaning
Wet wiping soot smears and embeds it permanently into painted walls and ceilings. Dry soot removal must come first.
DO NOT:Don't assume HVAC will clear the air
Without filter replacement and duct cleaning, your HVAC system will continue recirculating smoke particles throughout the structure.
DO NOT:Don't expect consumer ozone machines to be sufficient
Consumer-grade ozone machines lack the output to treat structural odor. Industrial ozone concentration in a vacated space is required.

Our Smoke Odor Process
Every job follows the same documented process — no surprises, no shortcuts. Here's exactly what happens from first call to final sign-off.
Odor source identification
We identify the source and extent of smoke penetration, including ductwork, attic, and crawl space if affected.
Dry soot and residue removal
Dry chemical sponges and HEPA vacuum are used to remove dry soot from all surfaces before any wet cleaning begins.
HEPA air scrubbing
Commercial HEPA air scrubbers run throughout the process to capture airborne soot particles and reduce smoke concentration.
Thermal fogging treatment
A heated deodorizing agent is fogged through the structure, penetrating the same pathways smoke took to neutralize embedded odor molecules.
Ozone treatment for contents
Salvageable furniture, clothing, and soft goods are treated in ozone chambers at our facility to eliminate deeply embedded odor.
Air quality verification
Post-treatment air quality is verified before the space is reoccupied. Duct cleaning is scheduled if HVAC contamination was identified.
Documentation at every step. We photograph, log, and report every phase of the process — giving you a complete paper trail for your insurance carrier and your own records.
